Cellular Neurophysiology Journal Club

The purpose of the Cellular Neurophysiology Journal Club is to encourage discussion of relevant and topical neuroscience issues on the level of single neurons. We aim for a thorough understanding of the literature while maintaining clear placement of the topics within the broad context of neuroscience.

Papers or review articles concerning cellular neurophysiology, single neuron computation, learning/memory issues on the level of single neurons or small networks, and relevant techniques which expand our understanding and raise new ideas in the field of neuroscience are particularly welcome.

Meeting Times

The Journal Club is held on Friday mornings at 9 AM in room S640. Please contact us if you would like to participate or have any questions/suggestions.

Guidelines

Please post your presentation and a one-sentence summary by Monday before the Friday you present through this website's administration area. To access this area please request the password.

Presenters can structure their presentations around:

  • digital slide presentation (ie, PowerPoint or Keynote; room S640 has a built-in video projector)
  • markerboard ("chalk talk")
  • overhead projector (the machine is old, so ensure that it works beforehand).

Presentations typically last about 45 minutes. Speakers traditionally provide a light breakfast for attendees. Plan on at least 20 people. Popular choices include donuts, bagels, or fresh fruit.
